Our Memorials

Thank you for visiting Kramer & Son Memorials.  Located at 14 North Main Street, in the heart of beautiful Lambertville, NJ, we have been creating memorials of distinction for nearly 120 years.

We offer many  stunning granites from around the world. Barre gray, from the Rock of Ages quarries in Barre VT remains our best seller. Mountain Rose granite, also from the Rock of Ages quarries, is a soft pink quarried in Manitoba Canada.  Other unique granites are Canadian Mahogany,  Ebony Mist, Jet Black, India Red, Tropical Green, Paradisio, Bahama Blue, Autumn Rose, Impala Black, and American Black, a local granite which is quarried in Pennsylvania. These are just a sampling of the many granites we offer.                                     Examples of our work can be seen in the many cemeteries in the region. While we offer thousands of designs for you to chose from, we specialize in custom design work.                                  Frank's wife, Sue, has been recognized nationally for her creative monument designs and will be happy to create a custom design from your ideas.

This outstanding Barre Granite memorial features an apex top and steeled finish. It has raised, round lettering for the last name. The first names and dates are sand blasted, as is the caduceus.

New for 2016!!  We have a beautiful new line of Star Bronze memorials with many designs to choose from.  We also offer custom casting to make your bronze memorial truly unique.

Kramer & Son memorials was established in 1897 by Harry K. Kramer. He worked alone from a small shop located at Bridge St. and Rt. 179 in Lambertville. All of the granite and marble was delivered to the shop in large blocks and slabs. Harry would then craft each memorial by hand, using simple tools, such as a hammer and chisel. Harry was later joined by his son, Frank L. Kramer Sr. As technology advanced, so did the little shop. Frank Sr. was soon using pneumatic chisels and a sand-blast shed to create his beautiful memorials. It eventually became possible to order pre-finished memorial "blanks" directly from Vermont. And soon, technology would take the memorial industry in a whole new direction.

Today, the business is run by Harry's grandson, Frank L. Kramer Jr.  Along with his wife, Sue, Frank continues the Kramer tradition of fabricating outstanding, customized memorials. The little shop was sold in the 60s.  It was razed and the land it was on is now the parking lot of a pizza shop.

Today's memorial industry is computer-driven. Designs can be created on the computer; and a signal is then sent to automated machines that not only print out the detail, but cut the design for the memorial in preparation for the sand-blast shed.

But, before that can happen, huge blocks of granite are taken directly from the quarries to processing plant. From there, computerized saws cut the blocks into slabs over the weekend, so that when the workers arrive on Monday morning, they have plenty of materials ready to work with. Computer driven polishing machines polish the giant slabs; and machines called "guillotines" cut them into standard sizes. The granite is then either finished in the plant or the blanks are shipped to local shops for finishing and fabricating into the beautiful memorials that are seen today.

Our cooperative shop is located in Allentown, PA. We have full plant capabilities including polishing and cutting of slabs, sandblasting, hand sculpting and etching.

We are open by appointment only. This is to insure our customers that they will have our full uninterrupted attention at a time that is convenient to them. We are closed on Sunday. Please feel free to call us at (609) 397-8591. You can also reach us by fax at (609) 397-0515 or E-mail at kramer-memorials@comcast.net. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
